Why You Want Me to Call
So you’re just in the information gathering phase, you may not even be sure you want to buy a home this year. Your credit may be questionable. Whatever the reason, you don’t want to be bugged by some pushy salesperson looking to make a buck.
Me neither.
I despise being pushed to do something when I’m not ready. It’s rude and it screams that the salesperson is not listening now, and therefore probably won’t listen later either.
I’ll make you a deal up front. I’ll be honest with you if you’ll be honest with me. If you tell me exactly why you want the information and how quickly you need it, I’ll find the right agent to get it for you, whatever the reason.
Tell me where you are in the process.
Tell me why you are “just looking.”
Tell me you are a neighbor and were just wondering what the house is selling or sold for.
I’m happy to find someone who can provide this information to you – no matter where you are located!
Why? I’m a professional. I’m not a pushy salesperson with dollars clouding my vision. I am in the business of providing valuable information in an ethical and responsible manner.
I good agent is also a business person and since they are in the business to earn a living, they realize there must be an investment – information – for long term gain – your trust – and ultimately, if they’ve performed well for you - a sale or a referral.
What a good agent will ask for in return:
Your honesty. If they know exactly why you’re asking, they can provide you with the most accurate information both now and in the future should the need arise. They also won’t be wasting my time searching for properties that you have no intention of buying. If you want to see properties in a particular area, they’ll still send you a list, but after it’s set it up, the list will be auto-generated rather than hand-picked. This way as a professional, your agent can focus on the people who need help immediately. When you’re ready to buy, they’ll focus on you too.
Your patience. Anyone who is good at what they do is in demand. If you don’t need the information “STAT!” then let your agent know so he/she can prioritize your needs in relation to those who do need an immediate response. They’ll provide you with the information; it just may take a few days as they handle the other irons they’ve got in the fire.
Your word. If in the future, you decide to buy or sell property and they have provided a good service, please allow them the opportunity to work with you. At the very least, listen to why they will work hard to represent you. They’d also appreciate if you referred services to others gathering information or considering buying and selling homes.
You want me to call because you can tell me EXACTLY how the right agent can help you. No pretenses, no judgements, no games.
Update: I am guiding agents on how to market properties online, instead of helping clients buy and sell directly. I can assist you with finding an excellent Realtor anywhere in the United States who will help you purchase or sell according to your needs.
